Lake Isle In Rutland
SPOTLIGHT ON...
Best for...
Vegetarian food
Situated in the centre of Uppingham, Lake Isle is surrounded by the beautiful Rutland countryside. Owners,
Richard and Janine Burton have always worked in catering having started in market hotels.
The couple went on to purchase the Lake Isle after being guests themselves for several years.
Named after the WB Yeats poem,
the Grade II listed 17th-century hotel and restaurant is in the oldest part of the town and has a history dating back to the 1700’s.
The 450 year old townhouse is full of character, tradition and sophistication with modern touches.
The 2 AA Rosette fine dining restaurant has a reputation for quality and creativity,
using only the best, locally sourced ingredients. Stuart Mead, has been at the helm as Head Chef for 20 years,
offering traditional cooking, that takes inspiration from all over the world while still using homegrown, seasonal produce.
The à la carte menu changes seasonally with the set lunch menu changing daily.
Vegetarian dishes excite Stuart the most, using simple ingredients with a punch of flavour.
They prove popular with all customers, (even meat eaters) and include such delights as the roast rainbow carrots and baby aubergine, spicy apricot harissa glaze, black sesame hummus, charred garden greens with whipped feta cheese.
The reputation and size of Lake Isle’s wine cellar has seen significant growth over the past few years and is able to offer
a selection of nearly 200 wines and more than 20 champagnes.
Lake Isle is the perfect spot for friends getting together and couples looking for
exceptional food with quality service and
a fantastic selection of over wine.
